NOVEMBER
The presentation will focus on the project „November“.
The project deals with of one of my closest teenage friend
called Andrea Wolf. It starts from a S-8 feminist martial
arts film both made together. Andrea Wolf later ended
up being considered an enemy of the state. She went underground
and joined the PKK, the Kurdish guerilla. She was shot
to death in 1998 in Kurdistan, most probably by members
of the Turkish army in an extralegal execution. The presentation
deals with the question of what is left of the dreams
of left-wing internationalism in the era of global war
against terrorism. It deals with the role of globally
travelling images of female resistance in popular culture
and their political implications and with the icon of
the female militant.
